Microsoft Fax Services - Need a Favor

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by yfs1, Dec 10, 2005.

I basically need to enable fax services on XP for a project I am working on. Unfortunately due to the fact that I am moving it may take me 2 weeks to find my original Windows XP CD.

In order to enable fax services, I need to put my CD in for some of the files. Can anyone send me the needed files and I can point to them on my hard drive? I tried a search on Microsofts site with no dice.

Just PM me or reply in this thread. If someone is able to help me out, I will really appreciate it (expecially if I get it enabled today ;) )

    Cheers

As far as legality, I own an XP liscence so there isn't any problem there. Its mostly .dll files for the fax manager

I don't actually know file names but it tries to find them in D:\English\i386\ (D being the CD of course)

If I had a better internet connection I'd gladly send you the directory zipped up, if you figure out the actual files let me know and I can look into it. One way or another I'm sure you'll get it.

Sucks searching for cd's, good luck on the move though :)

One of my Pet Peeves with Micro$oft...They have a great function where you just check a box to enable it for ease of use, then request 10 different CDs to actually do it.

Meanwhile its 300K  - Why they couldn't have the files in the original install is beyond me

I think that has alot to do with either your setup, or version of XP..I've had on some of my computers it ask for the disk...others like my notebook didn't need the cd at all to install the fax service 'just did it to test it'

My version also references a different directory than what yours is pulling up, the directory is about 500 megs :(
