misuse with voter id and RationCard possible?

    I was ready to purchase a good from US merchant and ship to India.But it was not easy if I do it alone because of custom duty clearance dump.
    so I chose a middle man import export service provider who actually help indian customers to ship directly at thair door step without any hassle with custom duty clearance dump.

    But they asked me to provide ID proof and address proof before deliver to me because as per new regulation( Customs Circular No. 9/2010) from India govt, any individual required to provide id proof to customs for importing any goods to India lol.

    so I provided scanned copy one voter ID as ID proof and RationCard.
    But right now I feeling somehow little uncomfortable!.I thinking what kinds of misuse and fraud can be happen if those scanned copies goes to wrong person(thief).

    need informations.

    Your ID is your ID. It is assigned to you by the Govt, be it the GoI or any state govt.
    If someone gets a copy of your ID, then there is not much they can do with it.
