More banners = Less Earnings?

Is it true that earnings-per-click are less depending on the number of banners on the page?

So if I have a banner at the top of my news article, will the earnings-per-click be less because I have more banners below the rest of the articles that go down the page?

I'd heard the same thing but when I dropped one banner block and reduced the size of another not only did my number of clicks drop but my CPC dropped by over half!

I think this may be true because when your site has ads plastered all over them, people who visit your site go into defense mode. They try to avoid them. The best way to do it is make the ads blend in with your site.

I agree with the "defense mode". It definitely happens when you overload your site with banners.

To me it depends on the size of the page and the placement of the banners. If you lump them at the top next to each other, you will see a drop.

If they are carefully placed throughout, each one blended so that it is relevant, you will usually see an increase.
