Multiple monitors

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by brk, Dec 2, 2005.

I saw Shoemoney's workstation, and apparently he uses 4 monitors at the same time.

I was wondering how can that be achieved, whether via software or hardware.

    Thanks!

You need 1 graphic card for each monitor, when you have them plugged in you goto your display properties and you will see 4 monitor icons, click on each one and then click on the checkbox at the bottom of the screen that says somethign like spread desktop accross these monitors...

You can rearrange the screens as well so certain bits of the desktop apear in certain places etc.

I use 3 monitors with my home PC.

I got already 2 monitors but i want a 3de one. The 2 monitors i already have are on 1 AGP graphic card with 2 outputs. So i don't have a second AGP slot in my computer.
How do i put a second graphic card in my comp if the AGP slot is already taken?

I suppose you'll need another pc or another motherboard with more slots.

I wonder if it's better to have 2 graphic cards with double outputs or 4 single output cards. I think the second option might be cheaper.

Matrox do a 2 head and 4 cards. I used to have a G550 with 2 17" monitors and it worked extremely well. Matrox also have excellent Linux driver support - more than you can say for most other manufacturers.

I have 2 new dells that have both digital and anolog outputs allowing dual monitors, which I have dual 19" flat panels on each. The dells are crazy as you can rotate the monitor also to create a display more suitable for print layouts.

I plan on getting a thrid monitor soon for my home office. Along with this monitor and the Flat panel TV in my home office I will be able to run 4 monitors. well in theory.

I guess so, but the point of multiple monitors is to have them as distinct displays, not copies of the same display
