music forum adsense revenue

    Hi i really cant think of where this topic would go so i think this is the most relevant out of the choices. im thinking off starting a major music forum. but i dont really know how much these roughyly generate using google adsense? does anyone have any ideas or is making a music forum a bad waste of time and a different type of forum wouldbe better for generating adsense income? also does anyone know of any good domain names available that would suit a music forum?

    its not so easy to run/maintain a forum :) perhaps u can start with a simple website/blog instead? once you get dedicated readers then you can slowly move to a forum.

    Don't just make it for the sake of Earning some cash!!! You need to have interest, passion and gr8 determination. Take the earning as an external factor for the time being!

    I agree with the above. I would look at some affiliate programs and selling your own adspace if/when you get the site going with decent traffic. Don't build it just with adsense in mind.

    yeah im not just doing it for the money trust me. how wud i b able to do that, i wouldnt be able to post anything on my own forum if i didnt have an intrest in it :) i was just wondering whether these kind of forums if anyone here owns one, are good money makers. as the hosting etc needs to be payed for so theres no point if i lose money. thanks 4 the advice anyways. i know forums r hard to start at first. i mite try the website thing first. any ideas on what you could actualy put on ther tho? like reviews or sumthing?

    I make money from direct advertisers, cut the middle man and you'll make a lot more than you'd with adsense.

    As an active musician, I, naturally, run a network of music related sites. They run the gamut from forums to tabs to vids to...well, you name it. I've been doing so since 1999.

    Adsense really blows on music related sites. I abandoned them when I was accepted to YPN. Yahoo pays 25% to 50% better than Adsense on music sites.

    Really, the only profitable way to make income on music sites is to do as I have: run a network and get enrolled in the YPN program.

    As far as advertisers; they blow, too. Music related affiliations are a fast way to the poor house. The best of them pays a whopping 7% commission on sales.

    Try donations, you will fare much better.
