music lyrics

does anybody have a lyrics site?what are your ways to monetize traffic?adsense doesnt seem to perform very well...

 

Just curious - what's your site?

 

Maybe you could try selling the CDs or DVDs from amazon or somewhere or mp3s (from itunes or somewhere)?

That's what I see a lot of lyrics sites doing.

Or ringtones of the song they are looking at lyrics for?

Or posters of the artist?

Or use ebay to search result auctions related to that artist (not familiar but sure it's possible)?

Any of those sound interesting?

 

I have a lyrics site, and I can tell you ringtones is not the way to go.. Posters maybe better, but you will have to integrate it well to work.
I had some success selling music downloading software, but overall I think this is a very difficult sector to make any money.

 

rite, im trying ipods from amazon for now. ill write the code to have the actual cds matching artists soon. will see how it goes..

Fair enough, I was just brainstorming, glad someone with experience came in.

It doesn't surprise me that it's a tough sector to monetise though.

 

I do pretty good on lyrics... i seem to get more images then text ads.

 

Lyrics can be great if you have the right ad placement and traffic. You have to know how to promote certain artists and who's hot and who's not. When new albums are released, be the first with lyrics and get to SEOing those pages right out of the box. I see many lyrics sites with really crappy SEO and a lot of ads that are all over the place. Tone down the ads, put up well integrated adsense and I'm sure you'll do well.

 

i don't have a lyric site but maybe you could try partnering with a concert ticket site and show upcoming concerts for the artist. maybe you could add ip tracking so it only shows concerts for their region or city

 

have you been getting ads for movies (adsense)? I find these to be pretty high paying.

I seem to be pulling alot of movie ads on my lyrics site.

 

The only ads I seem to be getting is ringtones or mp3 downloading services, both of which pay poorly.
Can I ask which ad units produce the results. Im using the (468 x 60)Banner, I guess the larger banner or skyskrapers might do better?

 

this might be a bit off topic but yahoo has given me around 80 hits for 50 cent just a lil bit lyrics, my site isnt a music site and in fact its only a single forum post that i have being ranked so i gues its about getting site indexed and optimised.
