My 0.5% CTR

Hi, I have a site that generates over 4-5,000 views/day, but I have a CTR of 0.5%, I think it might be due to my ad placement, but I believe I did a good job, placing it in strategic places, blending it with the site's layout... I dont know how to improve it.

Please give me a hand: http://avatar.iamzaks.com

    Thanks in advance

Simply put, i'd just be more aggressive with your ad placement. Throw an ad unit between the first and two posts, and work on getting that right hand nav ad unit above the fold.

remove the white border. blend it with the bg color. Also put the rectangular blog inbetwwen your posts. Also use link unit and adsense for search.

I am facing the similar problem, I have over 1000 page views/day, but I have a CTR of 0.0%, I think it might be due to my ad placement, but I believe I did a good job, placing it in strategic places, blending it with the site's layout... I dont know how to improve it.

Ok the site looks good (for design)
    anyways

thanks for input, I did a small change and CTR went up to 0.66% (over double the income XD)

I am now implementing what you guys said, and test it tomorrow, see how it goes, hope I reach at least 1-3%, that would be some decent earnings. :D

Ill let you know how it went in 24 hours. Keep the input coming, I really appreciate it

    well, results are in!

My CTR has doubled since I took off the white margin, I have atm a 1.1%CTR, which is double my initial 0.5%.

I still have a couple of things left to try, like the background tables for banners, and implementing the in-content ads.

Is it normal, that even though my CTR is higher, my eCPM is lower than before?

edit: The biggest improvement, was the link bar at the top of the page, in the black spot, that has produced about 35% of all the clicks for today

same. My CTR is under 1%. But as a newbie, my main problem is that my content stinks and the CPM is so low, like .40

well, I ahve done many changes, and thanks to channles, I know what works and what does not, and by looking at my data and asking loads of people, I manages to reach the 1.4% CTR mark, 3 times as much, just by making small adjustments.

I also added the explorer destroyer code to my page, apparently it is not against Google's TOS, so I expect to see the conversions rising in the next few days.

I dont really want to add more ads, for example, my sidebar ad did not work, it has less than 0.08% CTR, so I eliminated it, and kept the top banner and link unit, which have the highest CTR.

    So far I have learned:
    • Banners should not look like banners
    • Match the bg color to you site's color
    • Eliminate borders
    • Blue and white links do better than black ones
    • top of page ads are the best place to put them
    • footer ads are rarely seen or noticed, avoid

Ill keep experimenting and see what I learn, ill post here, keep in touch!

Move this "El mejor lugar para ver "Avatar: La Leyenda de Aang"..." to top where you placed Link Unit
and bring the Link Unit there in place of "El ....."

remove 728 Ad unit and use rectangles in the post

The thing is, that people do not really read the main content, they just scroll down the sidebar and view the pages, since that is where the real content is!

I noticed that over 75% of my visitors where using IE, so I want to implement the Explorer Destroyer code, I modified it, so it does not violate any TOS by urging or forcing users to "CLICK HERE".

Have any of you ever used this Explorer Destroyer? is Google ok with it? I e-mailed them, but I want to know from your experiences.

PS: my CTR is around 1.6-2% now, making around 4-5$/day with referrals (which have increased since the implementation of the Explorer Destroyer)

Explorer destroyer level 1 and 2 are ok according to google, just as long as you allow users to view your content without having to download firefox, then you are good to go.
