This is the first mascot I have created and my first attept.

I know it's not great, but I'm pretty happy with it, being my first try.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks,
    John

If you wanted some advice, then I'd say that you should make sure that you can actually use it :).

You've used both white and black on the edges of it, so whatever background it is placed in it may not stand out so well ( as you can see on DP's green bg where the face is barely visible).

Looks nice though, definately for a first mascot!

I've never been able to create anything close to a mascot... I can do about everything else in photoshop, except make a nice looking mascot.

So for a first attempt, that's excellent!

Hey, that's pretty good, JM. I like how you composed it using ellipses. It's simple, but creative. Definitely a nice first attempt. I can see that you have an eye for design. Like Hecky said, you might want to play around with different strokes or shading to make the image stand out more.

Also, find some tutorials on how to use the pen tool. It is a must for making mascots. This guy has some good video tutorials for mascot design and is a great designer. I learned from his stuff. I'm not a GREAT designer or anything, but I had fun learning and it added to my Photoshop skills. If you want to see my work, it's on the site in my signature on the Projects page. Best of luck to you and have fun!

Not too shabby for the first try!

What did you make it in? Photoshop, Illustrator?
