im a newbie to the whole web thing and would appreciate some feedback on my ads. Is having them not show on the front page of the posts and only in the perma-link a good idea? www.simplehaircare.com (Best viewed with I.E, my footer messes up with firefox

The oine site has the ads on first page. The other site is down right now.

I prefer to have ads on left hand side of page it seem to have higher click rate. You do have ads above first article on left hand so site looks good to me.

For your hair care site, change that ad link to a vertical format. Also, you might want to change the positioning of the Google search bar, since it goes outside your site's borders.

Edit: Nvm, I noticed that you did place ads in your articles. Looks good. :)

I will assume you are talking about the sites on your sig:

    1. HairCare: Colors are great, blended to perfection, howeverm you might be more successful if you get rid of the sidebar and add rectangle blocks to your content. The search and link units are completely out of place, and they dont fit... you have to fix that, I would put the search and link units at the top

The placement is OK. However the colors are killing my eyes ;)
And you might want to fix that problem, a lot of users use Firefox to browse in Internet.

You should be able to get it working in both IE/Firefox but you may need to mess with it for a while to figure it out.

Right now both websites are down. Do you guys suggest vertical ads over horizontal?

The ads r placed right but i think this type of putting ads seems to be routine... as in every site u find it in d same way & the visitors sometimes just ignore it as SPAM... so try to put it in middle of some important content of ur site & also add some video ads, image ads.... so that it will be more attractive & the colour of ur site i did not like it... :(

what do you guys mean verticle ads.... u mean i should replace my banner ad with a skyscraper? if i did that then my front page would just be a skyscraper ad with no content? explain in more detail plz....
so are the colors or the site bad... or the color or the ads or both.?
so ur saying i should throw in some more random ads in the middle of content?

They mean change the orientation of the google ad on the side to be vertical from horizontal to avoid going across the template on the side.

the default pink looks bad for me...:p

placement is good but the nav bar is better on the left side and the link unit above the search bar goes out of your main body layout in FF...

ya.... i know the ad and search is of but only in Mozilla Firefox. I'm working on it so my site works on both. Since the majority use I.E i decided to make the site work for I.E, view the site in I.E.
so overall everyone hates the pink?
is that because your a male? or is it because its just a bad color period.
All the girls i asked liked it, and im not expecting many male visitors...
    still change color?
if so.... what color do you recommend....

Your site look nice. In my experience with AdSense, I tried to use Large rectangle format, it generate more clciks and earnings. I tried half banner like you are using now, it generate less clicks and lower earnings.

You can try to use Large Rectangle. See whether there is any improvement in your earnings?
