you wouldnt like to live without fear? call me slave but i love the fact that i have nothing to fear, i can leave my house and go out, park my car wherever i want or go and get drunk without fearing someone will steal me or try to kill me. as u state in your posts, even without going out of your house, you are still fearing someone will come and kill you, thats to have a pathethic life....

I'm not really saying that you are a slave. But throughout history, in most cultures people who were slaves were not allowed to carry weapons. A government who allows their people to own weapons shows they trust them.

donwebcorleone, look at the world we live in today and its history. How many times has a woman been raped in her home? How many times have whole groups of people been slaughtered because of who they are?

You have to come to terms with the fact that humans are brutal animals. They kill each other and design weapons to kill thousands.

As I look at history, most governments are corrupt, because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

When citizens are allowed to arm themselves, they have power over the government, not the other way around.

The Japanese may think differently than Americans, but what if their government is suddenly hijaced by a Hitler like dictator? Then what will they do?

If they come to your house to take it from you you will lose your house and to say YOU will stop them is just hilarious, don't try to defend this overoptimistic view

Ah, Vietnam? Their fancy equipment was the Jungle and if there was no jungle they would be masacred.

Can not be compared with todays type of warfare regarding materials.

Maybe that's what they want you to believe?
You can give resistance but the Goverment Army can not be overthrown by outside forces...it's just to strong for this regarding training and equipment...it can only be beaten from within if such a tragedy for U.S. citizens would take place.

I would question where the servitude lies here? and I'd say:

But when you're allowed to carry guns, you're a slave, period!

the worst thing you have to deal with if you're in japan is some guy pulling down your skirt and filming it, then putting it on youtube. :p

whereas in the states.......you get crazies with guns who feel it's their basic human right to shoot someone.

I've read half this thread. It's so much like another that I posted on I'm just going to say my bit.

Do you seriously belive that it's much safer if everyone carries something that can kill someone in an instant? If that rational were true then we should all just be gievn nuclear weapons, and then the world would live in harmony.

Bush is an idiot - if you think you have the constituional right to go and shoot him be my guest.

First off, the swat team would be breaking the law. Maybe in your country law enforcement are above the law. I know they are in Mexico and Brazil. Here in the US, the swat team or police have no right to demand you to sell or leave your home UNLESS they are building a public building, which is stated in the Constitution.

But this is the US. You come in my house without a warrant and surprise me, and I have a shotgun or a rifle, and I blow your brains out, I was within the law.

If I get into a shoot out with the swat team because THEY are breaking the law, and I get killed(which will likely happen) My damn family and the whole community will begin rioting and there will be civil unrest.

As long as I obey the law, I will be fine. But at the same time, if Bush or the UN tries to suspend the Constitution(which is the law) I, and every American living in this country are demanded by the Constitution to overthrow the government.

You're right about Bush being an idiot, but I have no desire to kill him. His life doesn't belong to me, and my life doesn't belong to him.

Do you think it is safe when only one country has the most powerful weapons and the rest of the world doesn't?

Since guns and nukes exist, and everyone wants to get their hands on them, why not let them? What moron is going to fire an ICBM when they know the other country will fire back?

Its called "balance of power." When one man or country has the most powerful weapons, history shows they will dominate all those around them.

But if the neighboring countries have EQUAL firepower, then any country thinking about invading them will think twice.

I'm a pretty small guy. As far as I'm concerned, guns level the playing field.

Haha, first you defend the point of the right to bare arms to the fact that goverment might be corrupt and if they want to take over your house you could defend your house because you are armed...and now you are deflecting with ''they will be breaking the law''...the innitial starting point was if the goverment was going to be corrupt, remember?

So then there will be no laws the Goverment has to take recognition with since they are corrupt and do what ever they will want to do.

    Ahmedinijad maybe? President of Iran?

    He qualifies as a moran.

If Americans shouldn't be allowed to carry arms and defend themselves, then why on earth does our own Constitution say this:

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country; but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."

Edz, I want you to read this line in particular: "a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country"

That didn't come from me. That was written 200 or so years before I was born. Why would the founder of our country say that? Are they not saying the same thing I've been trying to say this entire thread?

The best security of a nation is when citizens like myself can be armed to protect ourselves. George Washington and all the founding fathers believed it, and so do I.

I live in Japan and am happy to be here without guns. It works. I am for gun rights, and I used to own a lot of guns in the US. Fortunately, we don't need guns in Japan.

And the stereotype of Japanese being spineless push-overs is nothing more than groundless racism. They might be polite, but not push overs.

I don't believe the Japanese are push overs at all. In fact, they have more honor than I've ever seen in any culture.

During World War 2 their kamikaze pilots flew planes into US ships. No one who does something like that is a coward.

You should take a look at the post I just made in the other thread. I provided a link to a site which shows an old woman in New Orleans being man handled because she was safe in her home and didn't want to leave after Hurricane Katrina.

Is this the free country Americans say we live in?

And once again i want to say to you that if you have the right to bare arms, you personally you would not stand a chance to defend your house being taken away by the goverment.

    As this was your argument.
Things that have been said in past times and that could have been applicable in those times can not always be applicable in times of today.

American troops are dying every week in Iraq Edz. The US military isn't invincible. I'm not a military analyst but I know enough to know that no country wants to fight a guerilla war.

The Vietcong had jungles. Here in the US we have mountains, skyscrapers, and forests. There are a lot of places to hide.

Did you also know it is possible to build a homemade cruise missle? Bombs?

You know, certain people in our government are saying the same thing. They're saying our Constitution is "outdated."

Maybe they'll replace it with a UN charter. They want to get rid of it because it gives us freedoms.

You're right, I can't beat the swat team by myself. But if I go down shooting, maybe wound or kill at least one of their men, it will send a message that US citizens aren't going to allow a military take over.

Edz, would you like this to happen to your grandmother? I wouldn't want it happen to mine. Would you fight to protect her?

Yes, there are casualties being made and of course it's always possible to make casualties but you can not win it. You can stand up and fight...sure but it will not give the results that would be needed, namely overthrowing the corrupt goverment.

And it is also my oppinion that the part of the constitution that says it gives you the right to bare arms is outdated other then that i have no complete knowledge of to say it is outdated as a whole...and what i sincerly doubt.

But the most important message of all would be that sure death is what is waiting for you if you resist, you can only choose to die for your freedom or not.

There is no chance of winning it.

Edz, you still didn't answer the question I asked in my last post. Did you click on the link and view the video clip of the old lady being tackled?

If that was your grandmother, and you were in the house with her, would you fight back if someone tackled her like that, even if you know you couldn't win?

Regarding a goverment taking away your house...i would not give my life for a house.

No shit huh. They use them when they are in danger.

    Good for them!

I will be purchasing my first handgun when I turn 21 in September.

Thankfully America's consitution allows us the right to bare arms.

Anyone that thinks that guns are dangerous needs a reality check.

I believe you know how that phrase goes...
