My personal info on whois.sc

    Hi,

While going through my referers list I found an entry on whois.sc.

It lists my personal info. Even my telephone number and email address. Is this legal? I have absolutely nothing to do with that site and don't want my information there.

Also, my domain has been blacklisted (on the whois page). It is new (not bought from someone else) and I have never even set up an email address for the new domain so I don't know how it could have been used for spam.

Any advice on these matters would be most appreciated.

It is legal when they show your private info. But you could also hide your private info for some extra. I think godaddy charges $2.00/month others a flat fee and some registrar don't offer this service.

Why was/is your domain blacklisted? whois.sc is not doing that but gathers info from various sources. Could be your hosts IP addresses too.

I don't know why it's blacklisted. I don't even use emails on that domain. But it is on a shared host. Will black listing affect my search engine rankings? I don't plan on using emails from the domain in question and couldn't care less if they said I was the world's biggest spammer (and no, I don't send spam emails). But if it'll affect my pages getting to the top of google, then that's a different matter.

It looks like its your hosting company.
