I need to recover my PC to its factory setup. My red recovery floppy disk was sitting near one of my speakers so now its either corrupt or just got demagnetised. Is there anything i can do now? Does anyone know where i can download another one?

    Thanks guys!

Well, if you PC is a branded one such as Dell or Acer, you should be able to get a copy from their webby.

Maybe you could tell us why you need that floppy for?

Well first of all i think i cought a trojan. I have managed to remove it but just to be on the safe side i wanted to wipe out the main sector of my HDD. Secondly every time i restored my system to its factory setup i got a new 6 months Norton subscription. Wooo-hooo! And finally it just needs cleaning anyway.

I guess i could try PC world where i bought my comp but they will probably charge me.

I guess you could do that. :)

Or if you are confident, then manually wipe out the HDD and reinstall Windows. Norton blows, so I wouldn't bother with the subscription. :D

to remove main (boot sector) sector of your HDD, just do a complete low level formating.
and whenever you install norton over a fresh installed windows you'll get a new norton subscription.
no need to restore your PC to default.

I did not get a windows cd or anything with my comp. All the files are preinstalled on part of my hdd. Whenever i use a floppy it extracts them from that part and wipes the other. I wonder what would happen if i just download a copy of windows and then use my product key printed on the side of my comp... hmmmm...

Ah well, il see if i can get another floppy from the shop.
