Looks like MySpace is finally starting to block spammer URL's

The site that started the "Awesome Face Maker!" comment virus is now blocked.

    Spammers beware!

Good decision to simply block those URLs... I think MySpace is maintaining a blacklist of prohibited URLs now

When a site exploits a security flaw in a program, in this case, Quicktime, to hijack user profiles to create spam groups with automated messages, they should have all of their MySpace privalages revolked.

There's a quick solution to being blocked; url redirection.

You can even go as far to use a Google redirect at no cost, if you know how to do it that is.

    http://www.google.com/url?q=http://ipods.freencome.com/

In short, MySpace is the spyware, adware, malware, and aggressive marketing hotbed of the next generation, and it's going to stay that way for a long time.

Yes please, but these people would just go to using a different IP and e mail to get around the ban. Just like black hat SEO people, they just change domains, locations, and emails, like it's nothing. Viruses and blatant spamming is definitely annoying.

People seem obsessed with getting image comments on myspace, so I will usually comment on one of their pics and put a small text link at the bottom of my post like a signature in a forum. Text links are less annoying than banners and are better for SEO. Besides the people like that I actually comment on about the specific pic. No problems giving someone the attention they crave as long as I"m getting a nice text link.

Picture comments aren't viable SEO as you need to be logged in to view them. Sadly, I don't think the Google spiders have a MySpace account.

Myspace blocked URLS before as well, didn't they? I mean, they blocked one of mine and I wasn't even spamming! It was a couple months back when I was too new to myspace marketing..

Good idea? How can any black hat technique to perpetuate spam be considered a good idea? All it will do is force MySpace to tighten restrictions and make it worse for the ethical marketers.

I'm gonna say this again even though nobody listens. MySpace has in the past served, sued, and pressed charges against people promoting through them. If they ban your domain, I doubt very seriously it's going to look good in court when you send people to the same domain through redirects.

    Good luck

Thanks for the warning, should I spread it around to the other hundred thousand people who also promote through MySpace?

MySpace began as a user dominated community. That was the beauty of the whole concept.

Spammers are the social deviants of Web 2.0. They are the ones who can't get a prom date and spend prom night thinking of ways to gt back at the popular people.

MySpace is an incredible place to promote if you are respectful of your fellow members. Spammers would be suprised to see how a sincere friend request is accepted. Friend and comment bots are an in your face insult to other community members.

One thing I do is, everyday, go through 8-10 pages of birthdays and wish everyone a Happy Day. Time comsuming and tedious? Yes. Worth the trouble? Most definately. It seems when I post a bulletin about something new at our site, it gets a very good response.

Also, every friend request approved gets a "Me" generated thank you comment back.

I have noticed a definate interest and loyalty to our site brand because of this personal interaction.

There are shortcuts, but if your in the web game for the long haul, there is a better way.

The track the emails for the href tag and as long as it isnt linked it wont be marked as spam. You will get around 5000 emails with the link before its spam.
