kingrage, you posted about your "traffic spike" a little while ago. I sent you a pm about this but you never responded. Anyways, your website that was promoting this "bulletin posting" type technique was called profile-tracker. It was offering a "free profile tracker" to see who was clicking on your myspace profile right? Wellll, at least you said there was a tracker. You didn't even have one! It just went to the bulletin post for myspace with your standard "Hey I found a profile tracker that actually worked!" bulletin ready to be sent off by the user when you tried to activate the tracker. There was never any actual benefit for the user, you just tricked them into thinking that if they clicked on the post button it would start tracking their profile. That sounds more like the reason you were banned - false advertising for more impressions/traffic. I doubt that the adsense team would have a problem if people were coming to your website for actual value from myspace, rather than just being tricked into it.

I mean look at www.pimpmyspace.org. I'm sure their traffic numbers are phenomenal from myspace and they use adsense.

    1. A regular myspace user cannot disable their bulletins.
    2. Band accounts have bulletins but they are hidden from the home page.

It's not "illegal" but they have javascript disabled for security reasons.

Creating a page that just reposts bulletins to another site that tells you to repost a bulletin will make no money. For anyone looking to cash in on this method do not even consider the bulletin posting feature until you already have the properly established website.

The reason why they aren't banned from adsense is because most of their traffic comes from google - they are in the top 5 for most top searched keywords related to myspace. Heck, their #4 for the keyword myspace!

So, you're saying if you rank well for myspace in google's organic searches you won't get banned? I doubt that's google's thinking. I'm sure they get a ton of traffic from google, but I'm sure they get a ton of traffic from myspace as well.

I'm not saying just because they rank well in google they wont get banned but it balances out their traffic - bunch of real visitors from search results and a lot of visitors from myspace, they don't have over 80% of their traffic coming directly from myspace like these other websites.

Either way it doesn't matter. Just because a website receives most of their traffic from myspace it doesn't mean it's going to get the big bad ban button. How do you think they got to be top ranked in google? Maybe, just maybe, some of those pimped out myspace profile backlinks had something to do with it.

I think you missed the point of my post to kingrage. I was simply pointing out that he had deceived people in order to get his huge trafficspike from myspace, rather than offering a genuine service/product, he offered a bulletin post link in place of his "profile tracker".

I think myspace is gonna block this soon. It's being talked about all over the hacker forums on myspace.

Mostly a bunch of highschool kids using this technique for pranks and it's getting out of hand. I see Tom, the founder, participate in the forums so he knows.

Time to find the next vulnerability. It's like war of the coders.
