mySpace Warning: Don't get friends too fast!!!!

so maybe the funk with my account was coincidental.

I rarely send messages, certainly not mass messages.

I do make quite a few FR request though and send a lot of comments...

 

BadderAdder sure is taking their sweet time to update.

 

Do a whois.net on myspace.com... the phone number to customer service is right there.

Well I never add anyone unless I know them personally, nor have I tried to use Myspace as an advertising tool, but what really irritates me are the phishing schemes going around. I've never fallen for one but some of my friends have and now their comments and bulletins are all advertisements.

 

Y, that sucks big time...hurts others too, not just the ones that got their acct. stolen

 

I've noticed a big increase in message spam* to my personal myspace account over the past few weeks. The nice thing is that the spamming profiles are almost always already deleted by the time I check my Inbox. Yay Myspace!

* The messages I have read are the usual kinds of spam I get in my email inbosy: pharmaceuticals, stocks, get rich quick schemes, etc.

 

I've notice the exact same thing, I actually managed to 6 messages in my inbox and have them deleted in a matter of 2 minutes.

 

Great info if you want MySpace Friends. I don't get it. You basically Spam MySpace to get a lot of people to be your friend. You then have a bunch of MySpace suckers as friends. Typically young people, probably have no money to spend on your site. Maybe they generate some clicks for a couple pennies.

You must be attaching some type of message with your friend request to get them visit your site right? I think we are dancing around this MySpace friends issue. Yes, it's traffic, but is it good traffic. Quality and the type of people you want on your site? What else are you getting out of it? Is it really worth your time? Are we talking about peanuts here or am I not seeing the huge potential here? Our company has several sites (no need to mention here, because thats not what I do) but I usually leave it up to others to take care of my advertising campaigns.

As far as I am concerned, you can get all the traffic you want from kids or what have you, but if you have quality content, all it takes is catering to a small number of people, a little time and then word of mouth advertising will take care of a big part of your success. By the way, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Get a few sites going. Trial and error.

If you don't mind me saying (and I'll be frank). I think to much emphasis is put on generating traffic from pathetic places like MySpace and not enough attention is given to quality content on many sites I review. It all comes down to being lazy and expecting something from it. Everybody wants something for nothing. Big rich guys and not the endurance to put in the effort to actually grow a profitable, solid foundation and real customers.

Sorry about getting off on a tangent there, but is MySpace the place you really want to be getting your customers from? Quality over quantity has always been the deciding factor. Trust me on that.

There are "respectable" content sites, and other sites that use "pathetic places like MySpace" for their traffic. Seems like you are completely unaware to this market's potential. In your own words, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Now, who's exactly is the one not tapping into new dynamic markets???

 

Hey, I think you missed the point. Just because one is not using MySpace to get their traffic does not mean other resources are not being tapped into. Quality over quantity.

I suggest you re-read my last message and think about what else you can be doing with your time to maximize your effectiveness.

Another point of view - Fact: Many young people work part time, the don't pay rent or bills so the do have expendable cash.

From a marketing point of view, you want your business to last, it's imperative to get your product and brand name in front of these "FIRST-TIME BUYERS".

Brand loyality is easiest to cultivate in younger inexperienced audiences.

The MySpace phenomenon is a tremendous opportunity to build a solid repore with the next generation of premium consumers.

 

I never said I don't use other resources than MySpace, it’s your own assumption regarding everyone in this thread. A variety of sites, with a variety of traffic resources with a variety of income sources. Just because people use MySpace does not mean it's their only venture.

What I do get from your post is that you're unaware to MySpace's potential and the kind markets you can tap into with that traffic.

 

really? I never see the same type of spam as I receive via my regular email...

the mysp 'spam' is 7.7/10 related to a myspace resource site, some porn bot, or an individual promoting themselves...

funny how many music profiles I've seen being "deleted" when myspace is/ has been such a big music promoter...they are shooting some people in the foot unnecessarily IMO.

 

they claim you can send messages + comments automatically.
BUT...
what will happen is you will get your myspace account LOCKED because
of this software.
+ they will NOT give you a refund.
BUYER BEWARE!
THIS SOFTWARE SUCKS!

 

using the SW in and of itself shouldn't be grounds for getting your account locked/deleted.

I use 2 different adder programs and have rarely had issues...even during the current massive counter strike mysp is mounting against 'spammers'

Great post. I have 2 accounts in myspace, 1 is my personal account and the other one is my business account. (I don't mix business with my personal life. )

I just sent a message to 40 people using Spyder and got flagged for spamming!

But how is it spamming when you are sending a message to someone who has agreed to receive messages from you by being your friend?

I thought spam is supposed to be unsolicited mail?

would erasing all the messages from my outbox help when the account is reviewed?

I notice there is a lot of software programs coming out now that offer to get you a large number of friends quickly. I might keep away from them for now.

 

what kind of message was it? would any of those 40 consider what you sent spam?

how fast did it send the messages? was it a new account?
