I'm just curious if anyone else out there uses myspace for a means of marketing?

    myspace.com

its a very popular web site for young (and older) people to socialize.

Just wondering if other people use it as a means of marketing/advertising/link development/brand awareness/etc or not

Bands and movies do it a lot, as do some lifestyle websites (snowboarders.com kept spamming me with bulletins promoting their latest forum discussion).

If you have that sort of cool fun product it might be worthwhile for brand awareness.

I happend to administer a profile with a large supply of "friends" so I was able to promote my music directory pretty easily just by posting a few weekly bulletins

i created a profile for my golf forum and a lot of golfers (and who knows who else) saved the profile as a friend. it certainly helped to have a picture of an attractive female golfer.

i know of a couple of people who signed up at the forum but i don't think it was worth the effort for me.

In only three weeks I was able to build an online community of about 1500 "friends" So a build in mailing list fast and targeted.

Nothing but good things to say.

I tried a similar thing on Friendster for the free iPod thing, but it didn't work.

Wow - maybe I should try using myspace to promote www.peoplebuythat.blogspot.com - a mini blog about Amazon weirdness

(A little side project I have)

Or I could just find subtle ways of dropping it into forum discussion :)

    You'll all like this one...

I actually have a myspace account, and I use their bulletin feature as a means to get flyers out for dance comps and other night club events that I sometimes run.. I find it's great for that type of thing..

i've never acutally used it in a "tradional" marketing sense... I dont have the budget for that type of thing..

I've found that posting comments on MySpace seems to be the best way to go about marketing. If you are creative with your comment you can usually get a good response.

We just create a small Houston Free Dating Website. We already started building networking with myspace and other small community forums. We going to see how everything goes and the increase on traffic. But yes so far we have 450 friends on myspace already for our dating site, but we'll see what happens. I mean we going to try everything and keep working.
