villageofjoy.com - what do you think about the ad placement? In my opinion our income from adsense is way to low for a traffic that we get. What do you think we should be earning with ~500.000 monthly visits in entertainment niche?

currently the best performers are text ad at the top and the right image rectangle on the right (they perform equally good)

then the link unit on the top right corner (2x worse then the last-mentioned) and the worst performer, just slightly worse then the link unit is text ad near the comments.

With all this info in mind, what can you advice?

My advice is gonna contradict that of the two guys above me: IGNORE HORIZONTAL AD UNITS. Horzinontal units have been used so often that people have been trained to ignore them.

Use BIG squares like the 300x250 and 336x280 in the TOP LEFT OF YOUR CONTENT. That will get you the money. Also, use blue titles and neutrally colored (black, grey) URLs.

I'll agree with johnnie about the horizontals. They can work good, but not with returning visitors - they'll get used to skimming their eyes over them super quickly.

Which is best size then for horizontals ads? Is it flash or textual ads only? Please share with me in this post.

Sorry, but once again I have to disagree. The 468x60 is the worst ad unit of them all. When forced into a horizontal unit, I only use the 700x15 link unit.

    Hi

Your site's background and Adsense titles have very similar color. Ad needs to grab attention. Try to split test different colors, not sure if blue links will work on green background, but blue links have highest CTR.

    Hope this helps
