Need Help With Adsense Integration

I've been trying to get the integration right on a new site I'm working on:
    http://www.armchair.ie

I'm not sure which background colour to use, so I'm using one on the main page and a different one on the category pages.

    Any thoughts?

    Bad colour choices !
You must blend the ad within your design !

So which colours would you recommend?

I was trying to use the green from the top of the page ...

You must choice a little square ad and put it on the left above of your "Top 5 Shopping Sites" in a block like the 3 ones on right , then make sure the ad's border and background are white .

I am wondering if in the category section, the ads would be better placed on the left hand side - although only when you are receiving traffic can you decide which is the better placement for your site.

The blue title links were more visible than the dull black title text on the adverts on the main page.

I wold try with #9DD469 for background. That green that you have doesn't look very nice.

Your home page looks good but I suggest a simple white background color on the category pages. If you want the category page ads to stand out a little more, try a very light subtle border.
