Hello, everyone. I am a newbie here, and I've been reading and learning tons of great website and marketing info on this terrific forum. Now that I'm ready to get started, I need some advice. I've already been approved for an account with Google Adsense, but I don't know which site I should market and place the ads on. I have a blog that helps people improve their credit rating, and I'm also in the process of creating a website with some of the articles, PRs, website descriptions that I've written on it. The purpose of this website is to get business for myself. Which would be more appropriate and more lucrative? Also, what is the best site to have a blog? I've been having lots of problems with Google's blog site. Thanks in advance!

If your professional identity is linked to the site then:
    • host it yourself
    • use moveabletype or wordpress (my vote for wordpress)
    • go easy on the adsense - the point is to keep the visitors and get them to contact you, not to be entranced by an ad and go somewhere else. The ads are just for those people who are ready to leave anyway.

It may just be a personal thing with me, but if I see Adsense or similar on a professional services site - I look for someone else.

Think about if you walk into WalMart - when's the last time you've seen an ad for K-Mart?

It also seems to detract from your professionalism. I know others feel revenue is revenue; but consider what your core business truly is. I would keep your business services site ad-free and put the ads on any information only sites you may have.
