Need your opinion about domains

I am about to start a new project I have. So, I went hunting domains at Godaddy. My head hurts now after thinking about 100 possible domains related to my project, and everything I check is already registered!!

I did find a very nice domain, problem is that it's a .US, and I would rather have a .com

But, since all of those are taken, what do you think? I don't remember seeing any .us at the top of the SERPs, I don't know if it is due to the extension or just a coincidence.

Any advice will be apreciated, since I need to get this done in a few hours because my coder is waiting for my domain to get started.

I had to stick to a .com I didn't like much. But I'd rather have that than use a .us domain.

I have several domains that end in .info. You'd be surprised by how many times I have ended up at some stranger's site because I type the .com at the end withoput even noticing it!

If you own the .com to a popular .net .us or .info you can get great traffic from those typos alone.

That's wht I didn't go with the .us option. Don't want to spend my time making the site grow and branding the site just to end up sending traffic to the .com version.

I always go for a .com where possible. unless it is country specific (exl. US).

Also if you hold the ctrl button and press enter when you type a domain in your address bar (in IE) it puts the www. and .com for you. Saving alot of time.

I use opera, no need to use ctr, just type domain and it will take you there ;)

I love my Opera browser, and new version 8 just rocks!

yeah I certainly agree .coms are so rare these days.

    (addednum)

3 letter domains are rare if not all registered now no matter how obscure the address is...

Try www.nameboy.com. It's great for locating domain names or at the very least, giving you some terrific ideas.
