It looks ugly and can greatly affect the layout of our pages. No way!

This would definately be a bad decision if this would be implemented in such a manor that you and i as an webmaster can't choose anymore from the regular formats.

If this is an extra format that would be available then it wouldn't be a problem but changing existing formats to that format would be a very bad desicision that will hurt G as well as us webmasters.

If we can't have any say in this then i guess Yahoo would pick up a lot of extra webmasters that G will loose.

Anybody care for a petition to vote against it if this would be the replacement of the regular formats?

I'm a bit sceptical. Where did he get the ad code from? Google themselves? It might be some publisher that modified the code or some such.

They may be doing a limited test.
But the guy who announced it wrote that adsense logging code, so he isn't just a nobody.

Maybe some publishers asked for that format. It have sense. Should be helpfull. I asked myself why G didnt think on separation of ads. Now, with vertical line it could be implemented fine in some cases..

    Next update fonts? : )

Well if it is legit, then in some cases it might be quite useful. I doubt that they will force webmaster to use a specific layout though.

That format really affect the layout of sites... many publishers will not use that format when they release it for sure.
