New limits on Twitter users

    Wondering how many users on DP have been affected by the new rule. I am not a verified Twitter user (don't have the blue check mark) and as of now my feed is sporadic: most of the time it doesn't show, but sometimes it does. From what I gather hundreds of thousands of (real not bot) users have been affected.

    Ironically it's working fine for me even though I have a permanent suspension. I get to read everything without the temptation of getting involved.

    I have a Twitter account but have never really ever used it. What earned you a permanent suspension, if you don't mind sharing?

    They haven't told me but I suspect mocking American freedom to get the healthcare needed. NZ gets slammed all the time for our lack of freedom (ie handguns) but at least our doctors have the right to give us the medical treatment we need.

    And that will result in a permanent ban? I have heard horror stories about Twitter, Facebook, etc., and their repression of ideas and speech that do not fit their narratives, but your transgression seems quite tame, to me. Of course, now Europe is in a tizzy that Twitter may not be censoring enough ideas and speech, these days as Musk has tried to cut back on the repression a little.

    Yeah, I can find really graphic porn, hate speech etc on twitter but if you rile the wrong people I guess they have the power to mass report and you're gone. They've done me a favour really but it's odd seeing Reddit and Twitter in death spirals at the same time.

    Don't know about Reddit, but Twitter will be ok. It's been at the top of the most downloaded apps for several months now. Musk is moving towards his X (everything) app and till he gets there Twitter will be undergoing changes some of them, like the one I mentioned here, will be super annoying.

    Don't count out Musk. Everyone said that Tesla was a boondoggle and then, when that was starting to succeed, he started SpaceX, and everyone said that was sure to fail. If he is actually able to make Twitter a true "open market for ideas and speech" (unlike what it and all of the other legacy platforms are now: liberal, Orwellian groupthinkers), he may have his biggest success, yet.

    Some users have reported that their feeds have become sporadic since the DP rule was implemented. They say that they are only seeing a fraction of the tweets from the accounts they follow and missing out on a lot of important content.
