New Site - Building Content

Right now I am in the process of building a site that I will hopefully integrate with AdSense once the content is more complete and the traffic is picking up to my site. But that brings me to my question....

While building my site, is it best to simply grow the site content manually over time by adding my own original content or should I look to some of the article directories (ezinearticles, goarticles, etc) to build my initial content base and then continue adding original content?

Initially I was going to use the public domain articles to build my base but then I read a few threads on duplicate content and how that may hurt your site. To create enough original content will take much longer, which is why I am curious to know what other people feel about this topic.

Personally I believe a good mix of your own contents and that from other source would be nice.

Yes, a successful website doesn't happen overnight and it requires a lot of tender loving care and effort, probably numerous months or years.

If you want to fastrack then mix in contents which are available and add your inputs once a week or something to give your site its own voice and yet not be out of touch with the world.

Thanks for the feedback. Another possibility that I was considering was rather than actually republishing public articles, I can likely create original content that quotes and links to an article or another website (assuming that doesn't violate any rules of the original author) without having to write everything myself.

That would bring a little bit of the personal touch to the content but get me going a little quicker than writing everything from scratch. Thanks again.
