I am in the process of setting up a brand new vBulletin forum and need a question answered. How do you set up the base forum category so it does not show up as postable thread?

    Here you go:
Admincp --> Forums & Moderators --> Forum manager --> 'Select your forum' --> Forum is Open (Set this to 'No' to prevent any new posts being made in this forum)

    Hope it helps!

Thank you for responding but that is not what I meant. I am talking aobut how at the top of the main landing page that lists all the forums. It says forum then it allows for something that is not a thread (example very top of this forum says "Search Engines") and then underneath that is the first postable forum category (example on this forum "Google"). I need to know how to set up the part that is a discription of the larger category.

Another example would be http://realestateforum.com where the first mega category says "Introduction" and then underneath it starts the first actual postable category which says "Introduce Yourself To Our Community".

Someone please help I feel retarded.

Create new forum section 'Search Engines' (for example) and Keep the below settings:-
    Act as Forum : No
    Forum is Active : Yes
    Forum is Open : No
Index New Posts in Search Engine : Yes

And then create your normal forum sections 'Google', 'Yahoo' (for example) and choose the 'Search Engines' forum section as their Parent forum.
