The blending is really nice, it's interesting how high the CTR rate on this site. Does anybody know?

I'm guessing Mishmash will as he seems to know a fair bit about the sites ;)

:p yeah well after some strong advice from someone who knows google would only say add a border colour that is different to the background (strikes me as odd why they let you pick them in the first place then) so the site has taken a different tack, what are peoples views on it now?

It totally loses what made it work in the first place, in my opinion.

It's a fine line, to be honest. The important thing is to keep on Big G's good side.

If it were me I'd revert to the original design and email Google to make sure it fits within their guidelines.

Why would you compliment him? He is breaking the ToS and that means that he is cheating all honest publishers and advertisers.

I can understand why the old site could be interperating as breaching the ToS which is why it has been changed ( what's the point in emailing google waiting a week only to get the response you expect of "change the border colour" )

However what about the site in it's state now? Is it breaking any rules?

It doesn't blend quite as well now, but there was an image miss-match before that is still there. If it is always 3 adds, why not stack up 3 images above the add box outside of the border, instead of 4?

He will certainly get a warning, if not a ban. He is abusing the policy twice:

He has no border between the image and the ad (you are not allowed to have the border ON the image)

The images are RELATING to the ads.

the change was pre-empting what we only knew google would say, so now the images can't even be related to the content of the site, that sounds a little suspect i in nearly every example i've seen they relate

Yes, I agree. I have also seen a lot of sites with relating photos, but this is what I have been told. Also some info about it in the "image next to ads" thread.
