Office in India. Which city?

Coimbatore right now is cheaper than Bangalore or Chennai
also Coimbatore is well connected to all major cities via air,road and rail.

Really cheap rents and talented labour being the best parts.
And of course, you can have Accenture occupying the block next to your office

 

u would find difficulty finding a PHP programmer all over India or all over the world, so even people with very little skills are gettin the PHP job

4 cities have good IT hubs
Mumbai
Pune
Banglore
Hyderabad.
Rest all are upcoming cities, i would pick any1 of the city from the above mentioned

 

Well, in terms of cheapest running cost and skilled professionals with good IT infrastructure and tech-booming environment, no city can beat Kolkata - the highest yearly growth rate in the IT sector for the whole country!

The CM is personally taking extra initiative to rope in many high-profile MNC companies and many are already there at Salt Lake Sector V. Don't underestimate the city...it's going to be one of the biggest IT hubs in the world in a decade.

 

Chennai would be lesser in cost than Bangalore.

 

there are a group of php/myql developers in my street. If you like I will ask them to contact you. but I think they take up projects.

 

I have an office in Lucknow.
Just to give you an idea of costings:
Programmers paid $650 a month
SEO trainees paid $150 a month
SEO paid $200 a month
SEO team leaders paid similar to programmers.
Cost of electricity, internet etc. are ok but high in comparison to wages.
The wage cost may seem low. However, these are decent wages for this part of the country. When I visited I had someone asking me for a job when I was out shopping and saying he would work for $75 a month.
I make sure we pay decent wages so we can build our reputation in the area.

 

No one seems to mention New Delhi, so I will be the one!

The places where one can have an office are Gurgaon and Noida, and within New Delhi itself. Both are satellite cities in the neighbouring states, but within 30 minutes of travel from New Delhi. You will find the best roads, the most malls, and employees would cost the same as anywhere else. More or less. It is a rich city, so you can live there for a week in your own bubble without crashing face-first into the true India. The bad - you need capable local help to set up office.

I am from Kerala, and then from Bombay, and now living in Delhi. Have a pile of relatives living in those places, so here are my inputs on them.

Kerala - max number of man-days lost during the year due to incessant strikes and protests about sundry political parties.

Kolkata - not as bad as kerala in that.

Bombay - You will hate the crumbling infrastructure unless you fly right in, fly right out. Great for a tourist, bad for business. Not to mention employees who spend all their waking hours working for you or commuting. Plus - informal and professional city.

Bangalore - everyone is in Bangalore, but everyone is looking for a way out too. Bad infrastructure. Power cuts frequent, pollution.

Hyderabad - cant think of a bad thing to say.

 

Mumbai has gd infrastructure with no power cuts and any other probs
Ull get all raw material @ ur finger tip which also include man power
Mumbai faced its last major riots in 1993 after that its been ok.
Dont forget Mumbai is the revenue city of India


So pls dont ever say Mumbai is bad for business

 

Mumbai has powercuts. Traffic that takes 1 hour to pass 15 kilometers. Take it from someone who has lived there for 12 years and owns a house there. Only saving grace is that you have very professional people.

 

Go to the city where there are programmers.

I live in a city where programmers are hard to find. And this can affect the business

I would say choose some city which has some rep for IT industry.

lol only 12yrs experience that means ur a kid buddy. I have been living in Mumbai for past 23yrs i was born here. Believe me i have never faced power cuts its only outside Mumbai where there is power cuts like Vasai which isn't in Mumbai. I can go with your point that traffic takes 1hr to pass 15 kilometers but dude its a business city what do u expect. Even New York has that kind of traffic or any Business city.
So i should say next time ask from a well experienced person not just experienced person

What Nick says is the best bet. Go for a city where you can find persons who knows php...

all said and done, i think it is BANGALORE .

 

Mysore should be the cheapest. It also enjoys a good climate round the year.

 

A lot! Big cities will be good if you want to recriuit few hundred people, in cutting edge technologies. For small PHP/ASP team, a tier II city like Kochi or coimbatore will be good.

Problems with big cities is higher rentals and other cost, higher salary and difficulty in retaining the people. Third one is the biggest problem of them all. Indian IT companies are pretty big - they recriut thousands each year- whatever you pay, the guys are going to jump as soona s they get an offer froma biggie. I strongly recommend you a smaller city.


Another advice- if you just want 5-6 guys why don't you reach an agreement with a small company to give you the guys with a monthly payment. Obviously they will take a cut but you wont need to rent out a place, get a manager and worry about the employees. Overall, it will be more coist effective and less headaches.

 

Have a look at Coimbatore..Well connected and congestion free

 

Google to find the cities where there are campuses of IIT (India Institute of Technology), the MIT of India. Drop yourself in one of those, and I'm sure you won't be lacking for talent.

 

I would choose New Delhi, of course it is one of the most popular places because it is the capital city and there are plenty of top webmasters there. Another great place to try is Mumbai.

To be honest I am not that good at this topic, but this is just a bit of information, you may find useful.

 

Bangalore is a IT city but it is too congested for new companies.Its infrastructure is deteriorating day by day. in my opinion any choose the new IT city such as...

Noida or Delhi
Gurgaon
Pune
hyderabad

By the way i live in Bangalore only.
