    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

One good way to get relevant ads instantly

I dont know if it has been covered before but i'll post it anyway.
I've seen many posts of people asking how to get relevant ads or why ads were irrelevant on their page so i thought i'd share a little tip about that.

let say you have a website about myspace layouts but there's not enough text in your "contact us" section to get relevant ads, or googlebot didnt check your website yet, and you want to show ads about "MYSPACE LAYOUTS"..
the easiest and fastest way to get those ads is by using variables in your url containing those keywords

for example, if your "contact us" file is contact.php, to point to the "contact us" section, you could do something like this:

    <a href="contact.php?myspace=true&layout=true&myspacelayout=2&myspace_layout_style=blue">CONTACT US</a>

all variables (everything after the question mark) are "fictional" and wont affect the page as long as they are undefined.
this is just a short example with 4 undefined/fake variables. to make sure you get the ads you want, you can use more variables containing the keywords.

its as simple as that, sorry if it has been covered before. if not, i'm sure it could help a few people.

It's a new one on me; normally I just rely on the content bringing up relevant ads but this might be worth trying on a few 'problem' pages ;)

Yep, this can (sometimes) work. I used to do it on my own site, using certain random keywords as parameters to my pages. This may be considered "dark gray hat" by some folk, but sometimes it's the only way to get good ads.

There are some other ways to get relevant ads, which I and many others have documented in this forum... links to related sites using good anchors and titles is still my top tip.

    Cheers, Cryo.

If I remember correctly you are not supposed to have ads on contact pages.

    well, that was an example.
i use this technique for image galleries where there is not much text.
i also do it when im building a website and i want to test it locally in order not to get PSA to see how it will look like with working ads.

thanks for the tip. At the moment I've really only been using alt tags in images, but I think adding that to some of my pages will be good as I'm getting pretty irrelevant adds most of the time.
    Cheers :D
