One Page Mini Site

Can an one-page mini site get listed in search engines?

Example: www.learn-options.com

Please help!

 

Considering the web in Google's eyes is divided into pages... Yes, there's no reason why you can't.

It should even help in establishing an easy to define 'theme'.

Just like normal, get tons of links. Relevant if possible.

You are going to have a lot of trouble with that page though (I also assume its a competetive keyword you would like to rank for).

The page itself is real light on content and with no backbone of unique visitors bringing content it will just make matters worse.

You can definately get indexed but it will be firmly planted in nowhere land without a tremendous amount of quality links. Even in that case, every little algo shift is going to cause an ulcer.

Diversify!

Why stick with just one page? It seems to me with a 40 page white paper for sale you could have 40 web pages hyping it. You already seem to have the "hypnotic
writing" aka Publisher's Clearinghouse style. The
more words the more people will find you.

I keep hammering on this nail, but I have over 200
key words that I am hammering on, but 95% of
my traffic comes from key phrases that only have
1 or 2 referrals. If I didn't have a lot of content
this couldn't happen.

 

I am I right in thinking that the total PR a site can achive is only 1, ie if your index page was pr 10, you would have to have at least 10 pages with 0 pr on the other 9? in this case imo (a poor opinion at that) you can only ever achive a PR 1 with one page?

 

No, a single page can be any PR regardless of how many other pages there are. Theoretically, this single page could be a PR10.

i would say that it would work but it would be extremely difficult to get decent rankings.... why not create more pages such as articles to show why you are such an expert on the top so that people will be more convinced to buy your white paper. Establishing yourself as an expert in the field through articles would not only help your online reputation but also your se rankings for keywords/phrases you are after... also add in a links page that is divided into different categories so that you dont have them all on one page....

Big sites might be easier to rank but small sites or 1-page sites are not impossible.

From a thread on DP, but I made an error, in I look at the web as web sites, but that is incorrect it is web pages isn't it?

The keywords that you are likely to target are learn options, options learning etc. These keywords are highly competitve so it will be very difficult to get a high ranking with a single page. It would be better to create a site with multiple pages.

 

Don't worry about that page rank formula man. Just get backlinks from relevant sites and you will do fine.

 

give it a try, you can add more sites later when you're out of the sandbox anyway.

I think I'll followed mxlabs's advice to give it a try first and see how's thing going.

 

Add a blog below the main content of that page and routinely update it. That will help... not spam, but good, solid content...

 

You might want to kick off a ppc campaign immediately while you are still working on your SE ranking. It brings guaranteed traffic and allows you to test and improve your site. If your page converts well, you can even think of using ppc as your main driving force. Just make sure that you get a net profit after deducting for advertising costs.
