Is there more money to be made with an online business (website) or offline business (shop) ?

I'm hopinh to own an offline business one day and make money that way.

in a B&M (shop) you have higher overhead, employees, concerns and accessibility, traffic, etc. online, in general, is better for MOST (not all businesses) because of the low overhead, not fears of shoplifters, break ins, and the fact that you are open 24/7. the key is to get the right products at the right price, and provide excellent service. Your main concern getting started online would be to get a good page ranking and keywords.

It depends on what you want to do and like to do. Personally an online business has been more rewarding for me, but anything you have a passion for, or an expertise in could be a great business. That could be online or offline. Either one.

They are different. I think that it is more risky to start an offline business, but competition is likely lower. On the interent, there is tons of competition. At least, if you're selling something. I think though that it really depends on the business itself. Some types of businesses do better as small shops than e-commerce websites. It all depends on the specific business itself.

If you set up an offline busines in a shopping center then it's much easier to get started. But with an online business, once it gets started, it can quickly grow as people do not have to travel to visit your business when on the web compared to the offline business, plus you can only fit a certain amount of people in your shop while you can get an unlimited amount of people to your online website at any time during the day.

You are more likely to fail online I believe, but primarily because of the ease of setting up a business online and your competition. You aren't just competing with the guys within 20 miles, you are competing with people across the country, including 15 year olds. Plus, as others have mentioned, you have lower overhead... thus, why 15 year olds can create a business online.

The first thing to consider is "Your passion".

The benefits to open an online business:

    1) Open 24 hours/24
    2) No stock necessary
    3) Your page sells products for you
    4) You don't need to invest $20,000 / $80,000
    5) You don't need an office
    6) You don't need to go to your offline business (ex. by car)
    7) You don't need to waste time on traffic
    8) It's very cheap (use a blog or website)
    9) Choose your favorite time to work
    10) You just need a computer
    11) You make money when you do something else

An online business has TONS of benefits. I made big money in 4 months or less...

Online business's cost will be cheaper, and it earns money more slowly than off-line business.
