I am looking for open source protal type application which includes features like forums, blogs, news, articles, membership etc...

Does Joomla has these features, I have just started to explore it but its better to ask experts :)

drupal is confusing for newbies, who have wishes but not the methods. when we dont know whats drupal and we dont know much of php, it's obvious they'll have opposing view.

joomla is good at noob end and success ends.
but drupal is something that'll let you create your imagination, just if you know how to.

    again different view :D
