I have a lot to learn about adsense and i think this is a good place to start.

a page on one of my site is getting heavy traffic (about 1000 unique visitors an hour) but the CTR is very very low, eCPM low again. :(

I would apreciate advice on improoving the ad placement/style,colors.....so i can take advantage of the trafic before i return to 1000 visits/day for the whole site :( ........it realy would be a pitty not to convert al this traffic.:(

    Thanks!

i almost forgot to post the link... so HERE it is

Sorry my computer is shutting down automatically in 2 mins so I'll be brief:

    1. Use individual channels for ads placed in different locations upon the page. THe link you have above has 1 channel for the ads on top, left and right. Use 3 seperate ones to see which one is performing best etc... and then improve.

    2. Try merging one ads into the content list on your main page "sickflash.com".

Wait I don't have time until this resets so I'll be back in like 30 mins to finish this post...

First, hillarious flash animation. ;) Second, try blending the ads so that they are not so, obviously ads. Chances are the people viewing the site are not looking to quit, rather have a good laugh. So, try to blend them in and make them appear to be part of the site.

    That's just my 2 cents.

Easy to see the problem. You got people going there for flash animation, but all your ads are for "stop smoking". You will need to do Adsense Section Targeting to get just flash animation ads and to have Adsense ignore the flash's title. See here for how to do this: https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168

Then I would recommend putting a 728 leaderboard ADLINKS Unit at the top and a SINGLE 728 leaderboard unit underneath the flash. Right now you're giving the visitor way too many options -- so many options that instead of clicking on one, he just ignores them all. Less is more.

When all else fails, apply for a CPM network to take advantage of the impressions.

Blend!!! and remove 2/3 of the ads you have up.
It's so obvious that it's an ad page that people are probably there less than a couple seconds. It might be because the ads load so much faster than your content.

    Hey I'm back!

Anyway back to the point I was saying before.

What you could do on your homepage is place a blended a 336 ad box at the top of the list of flash movie, like this:

Use white next with black background & boarder for the Google ad and standardize the text to match that of the Google Ad.

A rough guide to matching the text to that of the Google Ad:

    1. Instead of using

for every link, use
with a line spacing of 150%.
    2. Use font with pt 10
    3. Use a font like Arial
    4. Left justify your text

This should increase CTR but obviously the ads need to be related as Jack has already said (where "Adsense Section Targeting" comes in). You could also place several more of these ads further down in the list but this would obviously mean as a replacement of your other ads as you're only allowed 3 content units per page.

Also as I've said before use individual ad channels for ads. For example, if you have a standard banner at the top of the pages of your site, create a channel called something like "SF - Top Banner (468)" etc... This is crucial for testing/optimization purposes.

Once you have the channels set-up, make changes to the ads that aren't performing too well by trying to change the colour of the text, move the ad to a different location on the page etc... Obviously you'll need to monitor it over a period of time, say 2 weeks or something, to see actual performance changes as 1 day isn't sufficient to see proper changes in CTR etc...

    Another thing I noticed.

You should make more use of the link unit. At the moment you have it placed right at the bottom of the page along with numerous other ads. That whole area at the bottom is going to get ignored by visitors as it's obviously just a group of ads. Make more use of the ad unit by creating a menu or something and blending the link unit into it like this.

Annnyway I better go, I'm really busy right now.

    Hope the suggestions helped. :D

First i want to thank you all for taking the time to help, i`m very greatfull for that. I want to thank Darkhodge for looking at the whole picture and sharing his experience... we`l keep in toutch ;)

I don`t have a lot of time right now to fiddle with it but i quickly changed the layout and it looks a lot better (i think/hope).I put 1 adlink at the top an one leatherboard under the animation as jackburton suggested. wrote this quickly and then i`m off to school (faculty- i don`t know how to say it in english).

I will keep you posted on changes (i intend to take Darkhodges advice) and how the CTR will improove.

    thanks again
    i`m off to school now
