osCommerce and French language in URL

    Hails folks!
    I've just got a problem. I am optimizing my client's website to make it a bit more "Google friendly". I have installed Ultimate SEO URLs plugin for osCommerce. It works fine with English language but it doesn't work well with French's special characters (and they have plenty!)

    the site I am working for is: http://mondialpharma.com
    I've made a temporary solution - all French characters are replaced with English closest ones (ç = c, ɑ = a etc) but IMO it is not good for SEO.

    Any suggestions?

    try changing the charset in the meta.
