PC help.

Hey

I have a K7 Triton 400 Motherboard and a Athlon 3200+ XP processer, built the system and then put in graphics card, turn on and.. nothing displays on monitor, it sounds okey and everything but.. nothing displays! Anyhelp would be nice.

I have ruled out

1. Defect motherboard
2. Defect Processer
3. Defect Graphics card

 

Defect APG Slot ruled out

 

1. Check power connections

That was the reason my custom built pc went blank before .. although it processed everything and sounds like it's booting nicely

 

What exactly do you mean?

I have a similar problem, and after letting it run for a while with the blank screen, I turn it off and on, and it works fine.

 

What power connectors do you mean?

Hmm.. I am no expert on these stuff but I just recheck all my power connections and make sure it like what was stated on mainboard booklets. I didn't hooked it up right and that was why I got that blank display prob.

Anyway, do your turn up your monitor? - recheck

Any beep codes?

If not, check that all your stuff are properly seated. It could also be a prob. It's a pain getting my Athlon to be properly seated

 

I had this problem at work the other day and ended up having to download the drivers with the old stuff and installing the new drivers, then adding the card. This may or may not fix it, but thought I would add the experience I had.

 

Pale, that would not work as it has no onboard display and I can't see anything atall

It seems all power wires ect are in place and I have checked seating is fine.

 

Beep codes?

If I am not mistaken, if your machine is ATX there's a PWR connector from the front of your case that you should connect. That was my prob before .. I didn't connect that

 

Okey, no beep codes I shall research and work out about the ATX.

 

Oh that makes sense Soap, the one I was working on had crap onboard graphix

 

Apon researching more I think it could be that the motherboard is not fully connected to teh case correctly. You know the small brass pins that it lays apon and the screws go into that? There is not a full set and only 6 brass pins and 10 holes.



(I think the word would be a "Short" motherboard_

 

Check Your Ram slots, and push them back in slots correctly.

Checked everything, yet nothing. I even got all pins to make sure its not short.

 

Well if anyone has any more ideas that would be nice. Oh also if you have a crappy old PC then PM me and we can try to sort something out.

 

Does the monitor display anything at all?

It should have the message, "No Signal", or something similar if it's working ok but not getting any input from the computer.

 

Nothing at all, its like it thinks its getting something but.. not.

 

Try the monitor on its own without the connector to the video card plugged in. You should get a "No signal". If you don't, I would suspect the monitor.

 

Try a different monitor. Depending on the age of the monitor it might not show "No Signal". Also check that the monitor's brightness and contrast isn't messed up. It could be that someone has messed around with it and left you with a totally black screen.

What graphics card do you have and what is the Watt rating of your power supply?
