WHat did you expect? The great thing about DP is that people don't just post "Agreed, thanks for that" a hundred times.

You can say that this forum is going to die, etc if debate continues but take a look at the stats: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_statistics - People like to be made to think. This forum is different in that you actually learn or see another view...Otherwise it can be boring like most forums.

I have been called out when I said something incorrect a million times. I either debate my point or see the other persons view. I don't take my toys and go home.

I do think that most people that care are corageous enough to post in this thread, even if yfs1 and other regular DP posters are here, I for one do enjoy yfs1's posts. Come on you cant be serious when you say that the historic price (adjusted for inflation) is uninteresting in this debate. If that is so then you just want to flame about the magic £1 per litre being broken, which in an economic historic perspective is a non-news. The question has never been if the price will break £1 but when, wait some say 10 or 20 (or more, or less) years and you'll see it breake £2 (if you haven't joined europe by then and it'll be €2 that'll be the next magic price).

Lets see...I sold my car 10 years ago. I only rely on public transport and when I absolutely HAVE to drive somewhere where I cant get public transport or ride my bike, I use a motorcycle that gets 50-60 miles to the gallon.

dct has opened my eyes to some real alternatives and I have been lobbying to educate as many people I can on them.

I don't pass chain letter based on economics devised by someone that doesn't understand supply and demand to 30 people I know so they can be deleted as SPAM.

Wanboll, I was just wondering if you've ever thought of stopping the Greenpeace subs?

It could be worthwhile saving that money to pay for some alternative methods of consumption rather than spending it, then undoing it by *still using your car in the same manner*

Of course they are too high

You still mantain that buying it from a different gas station will make them go down. You started on a failed premise and by sticking by it, you now have nowhere to go.

Besides me, show me an example of that in this thread.

People aren't saying exactly what you want to hear and you don't know how to deal with it.

Lol...You knew how much to convert a diesel to use cooking oil but you can't grasp the concept that buying your gasoline from John rather then Steve does nothing to address the problem of consumption?

I think petrol should be higher taxed so all the ppl riding their SUVs and what nots to town would pay even more taxes. Make stupid things more expensive to do and fewer ppl will do it, and in the process make alternative options more viable.

And see, I don't agree with Perrow that tax is the answer because "sin taxes" don't work but it doesn't mean I don't respect his opinion as a valid one. ;)

Every oil company in the world has done that. There are countless examples of the ruthlessness of all of them.

So you want to boycott a select few of them and make the few remaining evil oil campanies monopolys?

What till you see gasoline prices then
