i would say that is directly proportional to how much you earn.

my only problem with fuel...is the countries that have it so damn cheap, and burn it like its going out of fashion in their 6.0L engines ;) USA being one rather HUGE example.
There should be some kind of cost balance globally and a super huge tax for super huge engines. The UK has started taking this route, and its probably the way forward.
fuel is actually cheaper now (in proportion to earnings) from 10-12 years ago,
the only thing that makes it seem expensive is when you compare it to everyone elses cost.
The tax on petrol is horrendous in the UK, something like 80%, but if they slashed the price by 50% we would all drive EVERYWHERE all the time.
its just a catch22 and provides revenue that balances the economy, take away the tax from fuel, and they will only add it to tax somewhere else, at least driving is something that is acually within your control. At night i used to go for a drive to relax...now i go for a walk....
(and face the gauntlet of being mugged instead :D )
however i still respect your post, and you are right, people get 'flamed' a lot here, but thats the very nature of debate, and i prefer it than a bunch of mods deleting posts 'cos it didn't have a 'thankyou' on it.

I don't mind taxing for large engines, if you can prove the usage, so I think that would be a joke in the U.S. Taxes aren't the answer for everything but can work as a deterant. If I had to get a smaller car for my family we would have to take 2 cars everywhere we went as a family, like I said before I don't think they will let me tie the kids to the roof... some laws are just silly ;)

well if you go around dropping porshe engines into vw's just to take the family out for the day you DESERVE to be taxed :D :D

i know what your saying, and there's always going to be a loser somewhere, obviously the potential cost of motoring is something to be taken into consideration BEFORE having a large family :D :D

    Teehee !!

No, but I wouldn't mind taking a 79 bus and stretching it! Put a porsche 911 6 cylinder in it with a 6 speed transaxle!!!

    That would be fun..

what we need is a company to figure out a way so that SUV'S will run on water. That'll definitely take the pain out of looking at the pumps.

Why would any company do that, theres nothing to gain unless there going to sell you bottled water.

You wanna put that idea to evian.

Fact of the matter is we dont have enough refineries world wide. There is auctully an extra million barrels per day extra on the market I think as stated by Kuwaits top enegery dude who is part of opec. This was in a headlines news article. There is extra oil mainly its price gouging by all the big companies and opec.

I also agree that we do need to be more energy and fuel independant. We need to go to hydrogen and methane and corn and vegatable oil. The world would be a lot better place if we didnt have to depend so much on opec.
