Any of you guys have tips on phone systems? I have 2 different product selling websites. I would like to get 1-800 numbers that would go to my home phone but if I'm not there it will transfer to my cell. Anyone know of such a system in the US? I used to know someone that was set up like that, but I don't know what company or what he used.

Your phone company might be able to offer such a service (find me/follow me), or failing that, look at some local
IP telephony service providers. A couple of things to keep in mind:

    - If you do it at home, you need an extra line to do the forward to cell on no answer (one line holds the incoming call, the other calls your cell)
    - You won't be able to tell the 800 numbers apart on a home phone line

There are a few compaines out there, like Freedom Voice, GotVmail, Angel, Kall8 - that support follw me live, live call transfer, voice mail, etc

But I would tend to stay away from GotVMail after reading ATTN: myGotVMail Users. Security problem

I have an 800 number. It can ring multiple phones at once an d let you answer fromany line. It can also ring in order, like my home, then cell, then voicemail. I pay $20 plus 5 cents a min I think. I even got to choose my own vanity number.

There are tons of services that offer these same deals. I use telcan.net but you should look around and compare with some other places first..

You can always use Skype + SkypeIN, throw in an 800 number from Kall8 and you got a pretty good internet phone setup :)

Anytime I have a telecommunications question, I can always find someone with an answer at Sundance Communications - you should find any definitive answer you need there.

Thanks everyone. For a while I didn't think anyone was going to respond to my post. This is all good info. I will check into it. I don't even know the lingo of what some of these things are called so you are kind of searching in the dark. Thanks :)

If you are looking for hardware to do what you want with an autoatendant etc, you could look into a talk switch or 3com nbx.

yes. People really like it. It gives them a warm feeling knowing that if their is a problem then they can just call us and they wont have to pay a dime. I blast my 1800 number nice and big on my website too. I find that it gives us a more professional look. Check it
