Placement should be reviewed

On one of my sites, I have 1 link block, 1 product referral and 1 ad block.

The site is about a year old and gets reasonable traffic (10K pageviews/day) and reasonable revenue (about $10/day)

When I created the site, I spent a fair bit of time with the ad placement of the 3 different ads that are displayed.

2 days ago, I moved the product referral ad and have a preety amazing result. I am getting twice as many clicks and 4x the conversions. This has not affected the normal ad revenue from the site either.

Now, I thought that I already had pretty good placement and If I had not bothered to try something different then I would have missed out on about $3/day extra that I am now making.

So, from this I have learned that no matter how good your ad-placement is and no matter how much you are making, that some very small changes can make a difference. If your ads have been in the same place for 6 months or more, then go back to your site and try something different. There are no guarantees, but it just may improve your revenue.

(Now, if I could just find the right affiliate program to run on this site....)

No, I will not show the site so don't even ask.

Not asking you to show the site.
    Thanks for the story though.

This is not the case with every other site, you might have got lucky.
trying different adplacements might give possitive/negative response you should be prepared for both the results and keep trying.
There is no fixed layout/placement that exisits for any website.

my point entirely. Just because you are doing ok, it might be worthwhile to try a few different things from time to time to ensure that you cannot do any better.

And I know that I will take another look in a few months time and do some small adjustments to the placement again.

You say you moved the referral box, where did you move it to, and where from? From the bottom of the page to the top?

I have an ad unit in a Column and the referral unit was directly below it. I simply swapped the position of the 2 units and it has givem me excellent results - my normal ad CTR has not dropped, and my normal ad revenue is about the same.
