Placing AdSense at the end of ONLY the FIRST post on a blog.

    Hey there.

I am wanting to place an AdSense ad at the end of the first (most recent) post on my main page. However, when I implement the appropriate HTML AdSense code for an Ad Unit it places ad units under ALL my posts. This means that all three of my ad units are wasted in this section of the site and I can't add any skyscrapers or leaderboard. Could someone let me know WHERE to place the HTML code to place the add ONLY after the FIRST post? Also, could you provide an example. I'm new to HTML and assuming I know a lot about it is a bad idea!!

    Thanks!
    Andy.

I use WPCandy on my Wordpress blog, it works great. You can add adsense ads wherever you want to, I have mine placed after the 1st, 3rd and 5th post.

Works extremely well, really good CTR.

I'm not sure if this is possible with Blogger. I've been looking to do this as well, but from what I can tell, Blogger uses a template across all pages. IMO this is one of the biggest problems with it. I'll take a look again, and if I find something I'll post it.

it is possible with the new blogger. go to layout, add siteelement --> adsense ads, (choose the ad size), then, drag and drop the unit to the bottom of the page just under your post.

Are there any issues with exceeding the 3 ad unit limit using this technique?

well you can do it like that. put an ad unit above the first post and behind the last post plus a vertical ad in the sidebar. It will look like

    ad before post
    sidebar ad post
    post
    post
    ad at the bottom

or go into layout then into edit html and put the adsense code just before the comment code unit. Then you have to set 3 posts on one page. But afterwards I am not sure if you will be able to work in the layout section anymore. it will be disappear until you restore the changes in the html code (put adsense code away). Try it and post here if it helped.

    Hey Michaelangelo,

Where you say "set 3 posts on one page" how do you actually choose the one you want? It just automatically picks the first three for me.

@ webs, I didn't understand what you mean, do you mean the ad-size?

Still haven't had this one resolved. What code would I use to place an adsense banner after ONLY the first blog post on each page? Bare in mind that this is now a WORDPRESS BLOG. The site address is below:
