HelloI am new here and would appreciate any help I can get on this matter. I recently did a google search on my "real name" and found a really bad damaging link about me and about my past at the top of the search. I would like to know if there is anyway to remove this? I tried the google webmaster removal tool, but ultimately I would need to deal with the website owner and I dont think that will go over well. I have emailed them, but I not sure they will help me any time soon. The google link I want removed is a old PDF file from 7 years ago which has some bad things about me on it from. Its funny because it wasnt there a month ago when i check, but is at the top of the search now. Is there any other way to get this off of google or to at least take it off the first search page? I did read somewhere that one temparary solution is to make a bunch of positive links about me so the bad links gets knock down to page 2 or even better to page 10. This Seems like a lot of registering to websites for me and could take me awhile, Is there a easy fast way to do this? Thanks

I wish I could, Ive been tring too, but its depressing me and I cant sleep because of it. my name isnt a popular one like "bob smith" or anything, its a rare european name that is one of a kind. I hate it because there is a certian group of people that know this name and can easy search it to find stuff about my past. I really dont want these people to see this legit file. My father has the same name and so did my grandfather. who are both respected names in a certian community. This file on google also shows my date of birth and my address too.

If what is being said is untrue, then you could always appeal to the better nature of the site owner and ask them to remove it, if it is untrue and they refuse threaten legal action as a last resort.

Try google support or report it to google.. Most of the time , the bad thing gets more attention than the good one.

I think your best luck would be contacting support of the website it is on. If it is a professional and popular website, chances are it will be removed. If it is some personal website run by some douchebag at home then you could have a problem.

What you could also do is to fill the first page of Google search results for your name with your own websites / blogs / profiles so that the page that you don't want to appear in the search results would go down to the second page. Just register on Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn and create a profile on more social bookmarking sites and your Google+ or Facebook profile should be on the first/second position on Google. Create many personal blogs with your name in the title on e.g. blogspot.com, wordpress.com (they are all free). Another thing that you can do is to create photo albums with Flickr, Google Picasa, etc. However, I'm afraid if the website on which your name appears (I mean the one that you don't want to be indexed by Google) has strong backlinks and possibly also high Google PageRank, it would then be difficult to get that site to the second page. You will need to learn some basic SEO. If you want your blog or website to rank #1 on Google, you will need some links to it from other websites with the anchor text that will be your name.

I'm experiencing a similar problem like you - when someone searched on Google my name, my personal wordpress.com blog appeared on the first position, but when I search for my name on Google now, my blog doesn't appear, because it doesn't have any backlinks. Sometimes just 1 link can help a lot, so I have put a link with my name on one of my websites and I hope that my blog will be #1 soon.

Maybe you could check what PR that website has and how many backlinks does it have and DP members might be able to tell you if it will be difficult to knock down that website to page 2.

I have also noticed that Google+ takes a lot of positions on the search results on the first page (if you are logged in into your Google account when doing a seach) - it shows my photos, some stuff that I liked on G+ and it's followed by my Facebook profile.
