Please review my ad placement - Less than 1% CTR

    Hi all,
I have been getting less than 1% ctr with nearly 5,000-7000 impressions at http://www.thesoccerblog.org. I was earlier using the ProSense theme, but the CTR lowered once google reduced the clickable area on the ads.

I am now using a new theme, and I would love to have your opinions regarding the ad placement, and how I could tweak the placement so that CTR is higher.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I'll go over those links. And my CTR isn't 10%, its less than 1%, which is where the problem lies. I'm making around $5/day with 1% CTR, imagine, if it was slightly higher :)

    NEVER be happy with 3 or 5 or 7 % !!
we had OTHER real professionals in other earlier threads who have same/similar numbers as I do - 2 digits CTR IS standard for any qualified pro !! hence THAT only is an acceptable goal to work toward
anything less than 2 digits is a waste of time and resources

also for eCPM a 2 digits is an acceptable / achievable goal on a mixed topic site!

my current CTR is a very solid 2 digits and so is my daily-$ a solid 3 digits - average across thousands of keywords on my site.

hence never be satisfied with a little - always get ALL you can achieve and the potential is thousandfold in most cases if quantity and quality of work can be increased "until job done"

    PS:

someone just PM-ed me to do his SEO ...
guys I am fully booked out with my own site from A-Z ( from server admin to creation of all content ) - there is no time left to mess around in other ppls site or property.
    but
I always share all my basic knowledge that has proven successful in my blog ( category SEO or Internet ). instead of doing other ppls work - i rather share all experience and thus help others to grow strong all on their own.
learning to do ALL on your own - even if it may take longer and more efforts, finally will make YOU strong, FREE and thus successful in all your life whatever you do!

    Merry Christmas to all

Your ad placement is probably the reason why. Check out the Google AdSense heatmap for suggestions on where to place ads on your pages. As you'll see, your AdSense ads are in some of the least-clicked areas on your page.

Well, even the new layout hasn't helped. 0.62% CTR with 15k + impressions :(

If you don't want to move your ads, try making your adsense link text the same colour as your blog post titles. I know the green matches the footie pitch colour etc but it really stands out as something NOT to click when it's that colour.

Since we're looking at placement, any suggestions for my blog with a 1.5% CTR. Specifically, my 336x220 that I put at the head of articles when accessed from search engines gets around 3%, the other locations get under 0.5%.

I suppose the obvious answer is to push the 336x220 at more people, of course, but 3% (it used to be closer to 5% before the click-area change) is still a bit low.

Alright, thanks for your suggestions, I changed the link color on those ads to blue, let's see if there's any improvement.

I would say putting a link ads just below your header.
I have been told that is one of the best place for link ad to show..most people noticed it right away.
