    What's more important to you? The look and simplicity of your site or the amount of money you're bringing in? If the latter, you can always add a square unit where the current ad unit is now. At the expense of looking big and ugly (particularly in your blog's theme) you'll attract a whole lot more clicks.

    Yeah, I think it suits the blog really well. By all means experiment with different colours and sizes though.
