Hey guys check out the banner I made with Gimp 2.0. Let me know what you think.

I love the colors but I feel mario should be on the side somewhere and you should change the fonts into a more basic font. The links are also invisible because of the background. The rest of the site looks awesome

 

Thank you. I also thought that right side looked a little empty. I will take your comments into consideration. Site is doing well though. Made 1.50$ in adsense 2day and site is only 4 days old!

 

Cool thats really quick with the adsense. Are you directing any special traffic to the site or is it all natural search engine traffic?

 

The banner of your site definitely does represent the niche of your site. Its a damn good job for using GIMP 2.0. I use photoshop lol..

Overall i say 6/10.... Which is pretty good!

 

No its all natural traffic I submitted my sites to some directories and search engines but that's it.

I don't have designing experience but it is nice one . But can you make this mario image in left or right side so they don't get mixed with your puzzle and retro options links .

 

yes I was thinkin the same thing when designing it thanks for the feedback.

 

No problem buddy . you can change it and let us know again than we can check it again for you . Actually it is no problem with us but sometime few of our users surf while having specs on eye and miss such option which get mixed in images and we loss some good users too .

 

I like it but the words in the front are kinda hard to read.

 

good color but link texts are not in position with Opera 9.5

 

Thats what you get with GIMP, now try photoshop and create something better.

 

My suggestion : NEVER DO ANYTHING WITH GIMP
Photoshop is better for make amusing banners and stuff like that...

But this is nice also, good job

Thank you all! I will be taking your comments into consideration. Sorry I know how good photoshop is I just don't have it.

 

You are a little weak in terms of the font both in name and in the slogan ...

 

I am not a professional designer but I have quite some years experience (15+).
Generally it is nice but let me add some constructive suggestions:
1. Logo is too high - you are loosing valuable space
2. Move the Mario Higher to the top and to the right of Cafe Gamez
3. Create a darker stripe at the bottom (Mario can go over it - see my designs at the links at the bottom)
4. Move the links to the stripe on the left side of maria
5. Move the register and logged user info to the right of mario - over the stripe
6. Make the search field wider ... you have a lot of space and add a search button
7. The subtitle indeed is not readable with that font and in addition to that the color does not fit your overall design - Try Yellow and Orange for subtitle - goes perfectly with Red
8. I personally prefer to center my web designs as most people do. The left alignment looks pretty bad on my 1680x1050 resolution.

Eye catching overall design, though you have some more stuff to refine.

No my aim to is create an attractive banner that represents my site. I just wanted to see what other people thought of it.
