    My suggestion is what I usually give people -- too many ads on one page, especially at the top. I bet if you took a week to experiment, and got rid of the side sky banner, and just left the box at the top, your CTR will increase. Right now having the sky and the box at the very top is too obvious that they're ads -- re: they're not "blending" in. I bet you if you took out the sky, your box CTR will increase, and you'll earn more.

    maybe replace the box with a banner even? Or place a 250x250 block floating at the right of the page (text going around it).

    Great suggestions. Really appreciated. Question, if we remove the sky banner, CTR will increase, but page impression will go down. The end result might be the same. Any way, I will discuss with my friend. Thanks.

    I am getting jaded, turned off, or just can not stand them anymore.

    All these sites that are nothing but adsense at the top, the sides, and all over.
    This site especially....it just looks like a spammy, built only for adsense, site.

    Why I am moving away from either removing adsense from my main page or cutting down the number of ads.

    Who cares about impressions as long as you get more people to click. You can do that by removing the sky banner. With just the box, it's not readily apparent that Adsense is an ad, so it'll generate more clicks. Having two giant Adsense banner right at the top will surely make people looking closer at the ads, and they won't click. Your choice.
