    I know that my site is more of a blog about things I'm interested in, but I figured if I could make a little money to pay off the hosting, that would be cool.

    get rid of your 468x60 banner, go bigger for one, make sure you don't use images, they have a smaller pay out and get a lot less ctr, make sure all the backgrounds and border match your site background, it improves clicks, more the link part around to make it seem more like content rather than a supplied link unit.

    I really didn't see how you would make much money. Your Link Unit is below the fold (not seen until page down is not performed) - leading to lower chances of clicks.

    I'm not looking to quit my day job (although that would be awesome!), I'm just looking to make a little on the side. I added a search box on my navigation bar which could help.
