Girls and guys, I need to know in about 1 hour, how the political situation is in Canada. Just globally. Its for an analysis my girlfriend is making. Do you guys know anything about the political situation in Canada?

    - How is it set up? (president and senate? or monarchy? or dictator? or what? Elected? Per 4 years?)
    - How is the global feeling (tax rate / social services / education etc (left-green-everybody-is-taken-care-of or right-big-moneymakers?)

Any info, with sources to pages would be mostly perfect. But just your personal answer would be nice too. Your text might be used as quote in the analysis with your nickname.

Of course I did. But DP is an even bigger friend so I try it here as well.

In Google I find the prime minister, queen, and liberal party. Still I wonder how it works in easy normal words. I wouldnt know where to find about it from Holland, but as Dutchman I could say:

We are a monarchy, but only symbolic. Our queen does what the ministry tells her. Therefore we are a democrazy. Currently quite liberal, more liberal than we have been in the past 10 years. Currently the central democratics are the biggest party, with liberals and they are proposing a lot of liberal statements.

I also know that we have a 1st and second chamber. This means that 150 people decide what new law suggestions can be done. those 150 vote about it. If its accepted it will go to the first chamber where I think 75 people vote once again. Once they voted yes as well, the queen signs the new law.

I have no clue where I could find such information faster than by just asking on an American forum. :p

    Lets see...
Canada is a democracy that is based on the UK government system. We have a head of state (the Queen) and the governor General is her representative in Parliment.

We have a Prime Minister not a President and our government works on 4 year terms.
