I thought it would be interesting to see what people say about this. I couldn't find a way to make a real poll so I hope this is ok, if some one can make a poll out of this please do.

I'll start the ball rolling by saying that although i do "ok" with adsense, I have yet to approach what I make with affiliates on adsense.

Interested to see how others do.

You could have made a poll using the options when you made this thread :)

if you know your target audience: affiliate programs (cut the man in the middle)
if you don't know it: adsense (hence the ...SENSE)

I haven't really tried it the other way around so I can't vote really, even if there was a poll ;)

I only use an affiate on 1 website. I would say its 50/50 income right now. Though I havent had anything bought through the affiliate for a month now. But its a nice chuck of money when it is.

I think a good mix is the key. Let's face it if you aren't selling a product or service yourself then it's wise to ensure that when someone clicks on a link it leads to money for you.

We have a few sites that does well using both. I think during certain times of the year and knowing your customer base... one can be more than the other. If you have a hot product for Christmas that people want don't give up too many clicks to adsense. That .20 adsense click could mean a $25.00 affl. commission so balance and knowing your business is key.

My top income earner is adsense. I make a little from affiliates but not enough to be serious. I need to balance the two better. Affiliates are difficult.
