Poll: What kind of site for this domain...

I own the domain name ilose.com (I Lose.com). I want to have a site developed to take advantage of this name, using adsense to generate revenue. What do you think would have more potential:

- A weight loss site
- A gambling site
- Poker site
- Investing / day trading site

I sure wish I had "I win.com" for the gambling and investing sites but if I gear it toward "Are you losing? Follow us!" theme, it should be OK.

I have pretty good knowledge of gambling, poker and investing, but I think that weight loss could be bigger (no pun intended ) even though it's not something I know a lot about. That's the problem. I'm not sure I could provide as much content on weightloss.

Anyway, what say you? Any other suggestions or feedback is appreciated.

I'd say with weight loss because it's a positive thing for people with weight problems. You would have a negative domain if you used it for stocks/gambling because people would go there thinking they are losing, not winning -- like they want to. People _do_ want to lose weight though, so it would be positive for them.

 

Yea I don't think I am going to visit a site where I am gambling and the site is named ILose.com. It just doesn't make me feel to safe. My vote is the weight loss theme.

 

I agree with everyone else. The domain name has a negative sound. To attract people it needs to be used in a positive way. Thats will not be the case with anything involving money or competitive enterprises. But, it is a positive for weight.

I'm starting to sense that I should go with a weightloss site. I have this gift to be able to read people. Helps in poker too.

I would go for weight loss as well, or anything else you can think of where it is "good to lose". Weight loss is probably a good one if you are looking at earnings from Adsense as there are quite a few health related sites that advertise with Adwords so there should be plenty of ads related for your content.

Definitely go with weight loss. There's a huge potential for branding with that domain name. If you provide high quality content and you have your traffic up and running you can run a weight-loss challenge etc. It has a lot of potential.

 

Weight loss. I thought that right when I saw the name. The people will lose weight, but will gain more money when they only have to buy 1 or 2 plane tickets instead of all three.

 

I just had another (vague) idea. You could probably set-up a sub-domain and create a totally different site with a totally different concept ..... Something like:

will.ilose.com
can.ilose.com

Just an idea ....

 

You need to set yourself out from the crowd. Make it into a site that has a special set of games where people compete to do the worst possible. An example game would be who could make the least amount of free throws in a basketball game.

Or maybe you could have it be a site where people write in to tell about their failures and people can rate the submissions on how much that person got owned. Then it could be a competition to see who is the biggest loser on ilose.

If you're a good writer, this domain name would be a perfect platform to write a satirical blog of a fictional character (or maybe not) that can't get a break in life.

I really agree with schmeg007. That sounds like a neat idea to me.

People love to complain, why not give them a place to do it... You could get a script similar to a confession scipt that allows people to post a "failure" story. Then other people can rate it out of 5, and leave comments. :S
