Profit from games sites? How??

I have a very small and crappy online games site that I had lying on my server. Didn't pay any attention to it, but today I started noticing traffic coming in from Yahoo, and I was surprised to see it at the 5th page for the highly competitive "flash games" keyword.

Now it is my top priority and I will work it up to the first page, but I was wondering... how do you get any profits form these sites? They up huge amounts of bandwidth, and getting people to click on adsense ads is almost impossible with these sites, and even when they do the clicks are only worth a few cents.

Does anyone here have any sucessful online game sites? Any ideas of how to get decent money with them?

Other than surrounding the games with 3 banners or so, interstitials (ads in between pages, i.e. before the game) and pop-ups should work pretty well.

I will take a look at sites like Fastclick and Casalemedia and see if they accept online game sites...

BTW, I want to take down this crappy site and put up a decent one, so if anyone here is selling an established online games site let me know

I think if you consider miniclip.com, then you see that not be people but boys Play games online and they really clicks on their ads.

    google adsense.. pop ups..?

alternatively you can sell the domain considering its page rank, or maybe higher an active gamer to keep it going and split the profits from the ads..

Commission junction have a few ok affiliates.
    For example Game Account
    http://www.gameaccount.com/
Who offer £15 per £10 sign up, which is about as good as you can get I think..
Lever the traffic + rankings to promote other sites. There is very little money in online games for the ave publisher. 2c -5c clicks are just really not worth it.
Sell them things according to their demographic perhaps..

Its quite difficult to get gamers to buy stuff or even click on ads, I guess the best option would be to just have CPM ads... a banner, a popunder and an intersitial should be enough to make some profit after server costs...

Just got a new script for this site, but uploading the games is a real pain!

Depending on your amount of traffic CPM would be the best bet. I would recommend using Casale banners & pop-unders
