promoting dating site

I want to know good ways to promote dating site, where members can sign up and find friends, share pics, live chat.

i need to get 1000 members within 2 weeks or a month to make it active community. I currently have 20 u.s.a members only.

anyone can suggest how to get this done, i am ready to spend $500 initially, and i dont want to go on losses, if i break even with earnings from adsense ads and affiliate network thats will be good.

Well, if you discover a way to do this, please let the rest of us know. You could try adsense. I was using adsense a few years back to promote a dating site, and I found it to be the best bang for the buck. I also tried buying "traffic packages". You will see a lot of people here in DP selling these packages. Unfortunately, all the ones I tried turned out to be scams. For example, one company insisted they sent me 10,000 targeted visitors, but I didn't get one sign up. Hmmm...

Also, I wouldn't be so sure that 1,000 members would necessarily give you an "active dating community". A while ago I had a dating site that was getting over 500 new members a day, but as soon as it stopped (drop in the SERPS with absolutely no explanation), things started drying up pretty fast. What you need is a constant flow of traffic, both new and old, over a very long period of time. If you plan on charging for your site, you may want to pay for advertising. Then you can figure out how much you are spending compared to how much you are making. If your site is free, you will likely have to depend on good old fashion SEO, although this can be extremely fickle.

This is a saturated market where there are any number of competitors offering their service for free. To really succeed, you need a very large critical mass of users since when you're dating you want to have a good choice of people and with 1000 people there will be very few that matches a certain person's individual age, taste and closeness of proximity - and even getting 1000 active users is nowhere near enough unless you choose a very specific dating niche.

Best option you have is PPC, or if you're fortunate enough to have a website with lot of traffic on a particular niche, that may be an option too...

PPC is the best, but you must make lot of research about your product and keywords, before you invest in the PPC campaign...

with dating site I would go with FB or Myspace. Start a new group or if you have a fan page and if you have some money start PPc campaign on FB.
