PSA Problem and Questions

I posted this in the other thread, but have only gotten response from one person (in the same situation). I would really like to hear your thoughts on this...

A couple of days ago, the main page of my site was showing PSA's. I hadn't changed anything to it at all. All other pages on my site were still showing ads.

I read the help information on the Adsense site and the only thing I could gather is that there was a problem crawling that page, beacuse from what I could tell, none of the other situations applied to me.

I verified that information by renaming another page on my site (one that was still showing ads) to index.html. When I did that, I got PSA's on that page, too.

If I rename my index.html to something else, then ads appear.

My question is this: Would it be against TOS to create a NEW main page, sort of like a welcome page, without ads on it, that says something like "Welcome to the website." and then maybe give a little bit of information about the background of the site and then say "Click here to continue", which would then bring the visitor to the old main page, which would now be renamed?

I make most of my money from that main page and if it was the content that was triggering the PSA's, wouldn't they show even if I changed the name of the page?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Oh, I did want to say that I tried renaming my main page to index.htm, default.htm and default.html and if you entered in the exact URL with those extensions, the ads showed, but if you just went to my site, it still showed PSA's.

I've had over 100 clicks on my banner and made less than two dollars.

TWO DOLLARS. I'm assuming this is due to PSAs.

This is simply outrageous. It's ridiculous.

Remind me, is it only happening on your main page as well?

I was making really good money on my adsense ( i got cancelled i don't know why) you need tons of content that is the same on your site to avoid psa's.
if you have 50 words and none of them are related you will always hve psa's

also your content will dictate ads.
if you have a PETA website you will have a greater chance of PSA's then a SEO website

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't violate their TOS (can't imagine why it would), but I'm not positive. I know quite a few people who make it a point to not put any ads on the opening page. As one person (can't remember who) put it: you don't see any ads on the front page of a newspaper.

Splash pages or entry pages are out of vogue. I would hesitate to add one more hurdle to cross to get into site. I would consider redesigning index.

Instead of making an entry page, I just divided up the main page into two pages (it was getting pretty long anyway).

I left the ads on the new main page, just to see if the PSA's ever went away and today they did.

I believe it was just a matter of them not being able to crawl that page for some reason.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!
